Adnan Soykot’s involvement with the Jagannath University Film Society (JNUFS) began in 2020 as a general member and gradually evolved through years of dedication and leadership. From serving as an executive member in 2022 to becoming the Publication and Publicity Secretary in 2023 where he edited and launched the society’s first official magazine Cineframe, his contributions have been both creative and strategic. In 2024, he was elected President of JNUFS, leading major initiatives like Amader Cinema and founding the first Jagannath University National Film Festival (JNUFF 2025), which brought national attention to student-driven cinematic expression.
Journey With JnUFS
On Adnan's first day at university, the vibrant 'Amader Cinema 2020' film screening caught his attention, and he watched almost every movie there.
He learned that JNUFS organized the event, and immediately signed up to become a member.
During the pandemic, He became member of JNUFS through virtual interviews, and after lockdown, They were introduced to newly formed Executive Committee (2021–2023) along with the new Vice-Chancellor of JnU.
Despite the pandemic's aftermath, JNUFS screened 'Muktir Gaan' on Victory Day, December 16, 2021. Adnan's very first program with the society.
After the pandemic, JNUFS resumed recruiting new members in 2022 and immediately held their freshers’ reception.
JNUFS resumed its regular activities and organized an open screening of Stop Genocide at Mukto Mancha on Independence Day 2022.
JNUFS organized an Iftar Program during Ramadan in 2022.
